As existing facilities reach end of life and public and private sector organisations seek to maximise the beneficial opportunities to health and wellbeing sport and leisure in our lives offers we are seeing new opportunities emerge and a challenge to the accepted norm of the delivery of physical activity through traditional competative sport. New revenue streams are developing and a new way of accessing fitness opportunities has emerged that utilise the advanced technologies and competativeness of social media platforms.

Derby Football Hub
Alliance Leisure and Derby City Council

Value - £8.0m new build
This stunning facility, a jointly funded effort between Derby City Council and the Football Foundation, is set to redefine community sports provision in Derby.

Delivered under the UK Leisure Framework by Alliance Leisure Services, the hub is more than just a sports facility – it's a space designed to cater to the diverse needs of our community. With amenities including external artificial grass pitches, a café, changing rooms, seminar spaces, and fitness facilities, it's poised to become a hub of activity for both football enthusiasts and park users alike. We're incredibly proud to have received recognition from the Derby Civic Society at the recent ABCD Awards 2024, where our hub was commended for its outstanding design, accessibility, and community focus.

Selby Leisure Centre
Selby District Council and Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust

Value - £7.5m new build
An exemplary landmark building providing an eye catching street frontage and delivering new public leisure facilities including a 25m swimming pool, 100 station gym, 2 studios, Wet and dry change, Spa, food and beverage area. The facility was part funded by Sport England and featured as a case study following construction.

Bolton Arena Tennis Centre
Bolton MBC and the Lawn Tennis Association

Value - £10m new build
8 court tennis hall, gym, conference space, seminar, teaching rooms, admistrative facilities, changing rooms, food and beverage, external running track, five a side football, external clay tennis courts.

This facility, developed as a collaboration between Bolton MBC and Bradshaw Gass & Hope, for the Lawn Tennis Association provides a clear span space enclosing 8 tennis courts. State of the art seminar and teaching spaces, treatment rooms and adminstrative accommodation created a northern base for the LTA.

Linked to the internal provision were external clay courts and athletics track and field areas enabling the centre to be considered a destination facility that served the northern region.

Westhoughton Leisure Centre
Bolton MBC

Value - £1.2m alteration and refurbishment
The extension and alteration works at Westhoughton Leisure Centre has delivered an iconic entrance experience for users of the centre. The design is intended to provide a clear identity to the centre and an improved user experience.

The works included improvements to the Gym, providing a double height space containing 50 stations. The development was part of a programme of works that included 3 other leisure centres in the Borough.

Bobby Moore Sports Hub
Alliance Leisure and Barking & Dagenham Council

Value - £12.0m new build on brownfield site
The Bobby Moore Sports Hub features external pitches, changing facilities, fitness gym, community rooms, cafe and cycle studio. Thanks to the largest ever grant from the Premier League, The FA, and Government’s Football Foundation, this state-of-the-art hub is now a reality.

Located in Parsloes Park, the Hub boasts 16 grass sports pitches and three 3G pitches. One of these 3G pitches is an impressive National League System stadia pitch with spectator seating.

The new building has achieved exemplary environmental standards and has been built to BREEAM standards achieving a Very Good rating.

Selby Leisure Village
Alliance Leisure and Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust

Value - £5.3m new build
Summit Indoor Adventure opened its doors to the Selby public in May 2016. The £5.3m facility is managed by Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles.

The amazing facilities include a six-lane 10 pin bowling facility, adventure climbing with themed climbing panels up to eight metres high, an adventure play zone with a dedicated area for babies and toddlers, aerial trekking ropes set above the indoor skate and BMX park and two indoor ski simulators.

The on-site café and restaurant provide somewhere for users to grab a drink or something to eat. The facility is linked to the existing Selby Leisure Centre via a glass walkway.

Thirsk & Sowerby Leisure Centre

Value - £3.5m extension and refurbishment
Attractive new entrance facade and extension and internal refurbishment to provide enlarged fitness gym, new cycling studio, new fitness studio, refurbished and enlarged dry changing and new look entrance experience.

Mariner Leisure Refurbishment
Alliance Leisure and Falkirk

Value - £850k alteration and refurbishment
The first floor of Mariner Leisure Centre has been redeveloped and now features a fully immersive workout environment. Additions to the fitness provision include an immersive cycle studio, a gym that has almost doubled in size to 292 sqm, with more than 65 stations. There is also a newly created group fitness studio, which hosts a full timetable of live and virtual classes to complement the offering.

The works included refurbishment and alteration with new partitions, ceilings, decorative finishes and M&E fit-out. Review of existing building maintenance and regulatory deficiencies were also considered as part of the development proposals.

Northcroft Lido
Alliance Leisure and West Berkshire Council

Value - £5.7m refurbishment
In response to growing demand for outdoor leisure spaces, Northcroft Lido underwent a comprehensive revitalization to modernize its facilities while maintaining its community-focused atmosphere. The renovation included the installation of a new swimming pool tank lining, upgraded changing rooms and a number of water play features including slides and fountains, enhancing the overall visitor experience.  Sustainable landscaping practices were employed to improve the environment around the lido, promoting biodiversity.

Community involvement played a key role in the redesign, ensuring that the new features aligned with local needs. Since reopening, Northcroft Lido has seen increased foot traffic, heightened community engagement, and positive feedback, establishing itself as a central recreational hub.

Monmouth Leisure Centre
Alliance Leisure and Monmouth County Council

Value - £5.0m extension and refurbishment
25m swimming pool, 70 station gym, spa and treatment, adventure play, toning suite, studio, cycling studio, squash, wet and dry change, food and beverage and attendant external works to parking and access.

An innovative project with an unusual design solution to address budget issues. With opportunities presented by an adjacent school development we provided a design solution that saw the conversion of the leisure centre 4 court sports hall into a new 25m 5 lane swimming pool. Innovative structural design to deal with existing ground beams and a clear understanding of the building envelope requirement for a pool environment enabled a solution that saved the client £2.5m.

The leisure centre has been totally transformed internally and now provides an attractive, exciting and welcoming space to be in with a private club feel and an atmosphere that enhances the end user experience.

Batley Adventure Play & Tag Active

Value - £650k alteration and refurbishment
Batley Sports Centre in Kirklees has officially opened its new 12,000 sq.ft. physical activity and adventure hub, thanks to a £1.5 million investment from Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL). This innovative facility aims to engage families and youngsters of all ages.

The project involved re-configuring an existing space, transforming two indoor courts into a vibrant play and activity zone. It features cutting-edge technology to appeal to tech-savvy youth. Notably, the centre is the first public sector facility to introduce TAG active®, an exciting, immersive adventure experience.


Station Leisure & Learning Centre
Alliance Leisure and East Lindsey District Council

Value - £13.5m new build
The Station Road Leisure & Learning Centre in Mablethorpe, which opened its doors in early 2024, marks a significant milestone in the town's development. Designed to serve the growing needs of the local community, this state-of-the-art facility combines modern amenities with a focus on sustainability, enhancing Mablethorpe's appeal as a destination for both residents and visitors.
