New Head Office and Warehouse
The Little Greene Paint & Paper Company Ltd

£4.5m new build on brownfield site

The project began through a need to expand. This quickly developed into expansion with an exploration of how a building could enhance all aspects of the companies business, whether providing exceptional working environment for employees, improving visibility in the market place, making a statement about the quality of your offer to market or driving a business opportunity through carbon neutral product delivery. We explored all these aspects with Little Greene Paint and delivered a solution that provided an exampler architecture on a gateway site with improved health and wellbeing outcomes for the staff and a zero carbon paint production facility. Now fully operational it has delivered across all aspects of the business.

New Offices
Bolton Business Ventures and Bolton MBC

£3.9m new build on greenfield site
This project involved the provision of office and support accommodation for two differing clients.

The Bolton Business Ventures facility requires a cellular office arrangement to provide larger “Move On” accommodation for its present “Starter” offices. The facility provides BBV Clients with a fully managed office environment and expert advice from in house advisors.

The Family Support Unit for Bolton MBC Social Services provides facilities for general administration and management personnel along with interview, conference and training facilities. The approach for the internal arrangement has been to provide private offices for management personnel adjacent to open plan spaces housing support staff.

Office and Drop-in Centre
42nd Street Young Persons Charity

£750k new build on brownfield site
Bradshaw Gass and Hope LLP was commissioned in the disciplines of Architecture, Structural Design and CDMC for this unusual and ground-breaking development in the heart of Ancoats, Manchester, for 42nd Street, a charity operating amongst youth and young people to give them direction, assistance and support in an environment that is exciting and stimulating as well as non-confrontational or critical.

The design involved the  infilling of former small scale building sites in between extant vernacular buildings and more modern office development and car park backdrops. The design had to be unusual and eye-catching in order to signal its presence and particular purpose.

The Media Centre
Kirklees County Council

£4.0m new build on brownfield site
The Kirklees Media Centre is one of the most innovative hubs in the UK for the creative and media sectors. This new development builds on the Media Centre’s success by providing additional high specification workspaces in the heart of Huddersfield.

As sustainability was a key design objective the building incorporates a range of features including a cooling system which utilises naturally cool water extracted from a local borehole, passive stack ventilation and photovoltaic cells all of which are independently controlled by a central building management system. The conceptual design was developed by London-based architects, Ash Sakula, with Bradshaw, Gass and Hope commissioned to undertake the detailed design and oversee the construction process. The building was opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 2007.

Executive Office Facility
Manchester City Football Club

£1.8m extension on brownfield site
City@Home was a design and duild scheme to provide new office accommodation for executive and marketing personnel at Manchester City Football Club.

Our partnership in delivering this project with City Build (Manchester) Ltd was based upon a mutual respect for each companies drive towards quality, clarity, excellence in design and construction and above all the provision of a service to our Clients that goes beyond fiscal concerns.

Westwood Park Development
Wigan MBC

£6.0m new build on greenfield site
This was a design and build scheme to provide new office accommodation for Wigan MBC and speculative office space for future letting. The design team was lead by Kier (NW) Ltd Project Management.

The principal was to provide an energy efficient building utilising daylight and natural ventilation to the full. Lighting is controlled by daylight sensors, switching off luminaires automatically to save power. The building was also designed to be flexible in its internal arrangement with an accessible floor and suspended ceilings installed prior to installation of demountable partitions.

The building achieved a BREEAM good rating.

Extension to Warehouse
Hitachi Automotive Solutions

£3.1m extension on brownfield site
Bradshaw Gass and Hope LLP was commissioned to carry out feasibilities for extending the existing Hitachi Automotive Europe Ltd premises in Horwich, Bolton.  This resulted in a commission to plan and oversee a Design and Build Contract with a programme duration from start to finish of approximately 7 months.

The accommodation included an extension to the Production Area to enable a new line to be installed and tested ahead of manufacture, a warehouse that doubled the existing capacity with offices and welfare provisions similarly increased in size. The contract was let on a negotiated design and build basis with the project being delivered on time and to budget.
