The cultural needs of society transend design, however the built environment provides an opportunity to cultivate and enhance the needs. Through spaces for art, music, performance, reading, education, recording or preserving we can capture our desire to exist beyond work and play. With an increasingly diverse society our understanding of culture is changing, and an embracing of the opportunity that offers expressive outlet to a range of idealogies and ways of thinking is challenging the nature of our societal spaces. New technologies are driving the nature of human interaction and the opportunities for expression are changing the way we perceive and understand our cultural future.
