Chester Fire Station - Net Zero Winner!

A great evening at the North West Regional Construction Awards with a number of the team responsible for the concept, interpretation and delivery of Net Zero fire service estate.  The foresight of Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service and Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority to deliver the Government climate change agenda across their building and services estate has seen a drive to achieve Net Zero on all new buildings and consideration of opportunities on existing property by 2035.

The project was procured through the North West Construction Hub and delivered by a design and construction team that included ISG Construction, BGH LLP, IKG Consulting, T Clark, Novo Building Services and Assent Building Control.

Bradshaw Gass & Hope LLP are committed to Clients who wish to achieve carbon and energy reductions within their developments and are uniquely placed with our multi-disciplined approach to practice and project delivery.

Put simply Net Zero means reducing greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible in construction projects, and ensuring any remaining emissions are re-absorbed from the atmosphere.  There are many ways to achieve a Net Zero outcome for a building or facility however we have found the most effective solution includes a combination of building envelope design and orientation, thermal improvement, efficient and appropriate services plant choice, low energy fittings and the use of renewable energy sources.

Net Zero is part of the principle of sustainability in construction that should be embedded in every construction project. Further information on Net Zero compliance and agenda can be found at the following links:
