The provision of a 25m x 10.5m (5 Lane) swimming pool, designed to ASA standards, suitable for use by schools, swimming clubs and the community, with the primary purpose of teaching children to swim.

To this end the pool has been designed to have an extended shallow end ie. the 1 metre shallow end depth falls over a gentle gradient to a depth of 1.2 metres over two thirds of the length of the pool, before increasing to 2 metres at the deep end. The facilities are fully equipped to care for the disabled.
