A new Arts Centre has been created as a community resource, linking the existing single storey upper and lower schools and sports hall. The scheme creates a central, shared arts and crafts space with associated “studios” and support accommodation and incorporates a new entrance and concourse area affording barrier-free access throughout the development and between the different levels of the existing school.
The Arts Centre has a built-up welted seam metal roof, glazed external screens and curtain walling with composite panel cladding at high level. A curvilinear masonry wall defines the main entrance, new office areas and an external terraced “theatre”. Completed 2003.
